i would say c qua hydrocortisone as i thought first line would be cephalosporins and thus both 3rd generation a and e would be correct. and for IV ampicillin if it is listeria meningitis. dexamethasone sometimes is used for tuberculous meningitis.

The answer is correct but not exactly explained when dexa should be used.

Question 2 :

When is IV Dexamethasone used in meningitis ?

Dexamethasone is used to suppress inflammatory process to prevent adhesion of meninges which later on might cause hydrocephalus?

Dexamethasone is recommended for adults with proven or suspected H.influenza or S.pneumoniae meningitis.Studies has shown decreased mortality in adults with bacterial meningitis treated with dexamethasone before or with the first dose of antibiotics.

Dexamethasone decreases neurological complications in children and infants with H.influenza meningitis.
